Shay Miller wants to find love, but it eludes her. She wants to be fulfilled, but her job is a dead end. She wants to belong, but her life is increasingly lonely.

Until Shay meets the Moore sisters. Cassandra and Jane live a life of glamorous perfection, and always get what they desire. When they invite Shay into their circle, everything seems to get better. But of course, appearances are deceiving.

This novel by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen was a 2020 Goodreads Choice Award Nominee in the Mystery & Thriller category. Other books I have enjoyed by these two authors include The Wife Between Us and An Anonymous Girl.

My Verdict: One of the things I appreciated was that this thriller focuses on women and their friendships with other women. Shay is a solid protagonist, I could feel her loneliness and desperation, so when she was eager to latch onto the Moore sisters, I was not surprised. They were offering a type of friendship that had eluded her.

Shay’s yearning to fit in really clouds her vision of choices she makes, but most people can probably relate to trying to be part of a group and even maybe adjusting areas of their personality to fit in.

The chain of events that take place as the story takes off left me questioning the main character, Shay, over and over again. While it is difficult to know whether or not we should truly trust someone, sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

I enjoyed this almost as much as An Anonymous Girl. It is definitely worth a read if you enjoy psychological thrillers. I give You Are Not Alone 4 stars.
