To the person reading this, sometimes we get caught in the crossfire of a storm inside someone that we didn’t start and become collateral damage. Sometimes we blame ourselves. There’s guilt, there’s shame. We lie to our families, we lie to ourselves. Until the storm is so great, that it just simply cannot be hidden any longer. I’m here to say I see you. I hear you. You’re not alone. And I promise, you will get through it. We can’t forget that even though we love an addict, we must also love ourselves. Follow along in my personal story of loving an addict told through poetry.
My Verdict
This book touches on every step of loving an addict. If you have ever loved an addict or struggled with addiction yourself, you will find something you can relate to here. The book is written about a romantic relationship, but it could be any type of relationship.
It is beautifully written! The author poured her soul into the book and while reading, the reader can feel the depth of emotion as though you are going through the journey along side her. Powerful reading. At times, you might have to put down the book to collect yourself prior to moving forward.
I highly recommend this book for those who love poetry in a story format that takes you on the author's journey. This book would be an inspiration for those who are going through a similar journey of loving an addict.
This collection of poetry is beautifully raw, vulnerable, and honest. I give this one 5 stars.
